TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s Ministry of Health issued a number of recommendations for worshippers after reopening of mosques in the country.

The ministry underlined the need for maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Arabfive.com website reported.

Those going to mosques to attend Friday prayers are also urged to disinfect their hands before and after using copies of the Quran.

The ministry also stressed that those exhibiting any signs of cold or flu-like symptoms must refrain from going to mosques.

The North African country reopened major mosques for Friday prayers on August 28.

Since March 21, the Religious Endowments Ministry had halted Friday prayers and congregational prayers, and closed all mosques and their attachments, as part of the government’s precautionary measures to curb the coronavirus outbreak.

Mosques reopened gradually on June 27 for the five daily prayers.
